Poway, California is a city in San Diego County where Blink-182, Unwritten Law, and many other 90s punk rock bands are from. In the 90s, Poway had its own little punk rock pocket of the San Diego scene. I revisit key locations in this video:
- Poway Elk’s Lodge (where you could put on your own punk rock shows)
- 501 Exchange (store)
- Poway Music Trader (record shop)
- Bertrand’s Music (where Blink-182’s original drummer, Scott Raynor, took drum lessons)
- Hangar 18 (short-lived venue)
- Poway High School (where so many Poway punk rock musicians went)
- Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus’s house
- Sombrero toco shop (that Blink-182 sung about)
- Mt. Carmel High School (where Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus allegedly went)
- One By One’s practice garage
*Note: I found out later the first Mark Hoppus house was the correct one. Also, Sombrero location was correct too (there are photos of them on a wall in there).
