Hospitality Point
Hospitality Point is a point of land between Mission Bay and the mouth of the San Diego River. In the 90s, it used hold events like:
- The 1997 Warped Tour
- An Offspring/AFI event (that we filmed an interviewed AFI at for Inside Out Television)
And at the near by, Mission Bay, was where:
- MTV had their Spring Break events
- The venue, Canes, was located
- Belmont Park, which I dedicate a whole video to…
Belmont Park
Belmont Park consists of a roller coaster and other rides and is located on Mission Beach in San Diego. It’s the location where a couple of punk rock music videos where filmed in the 90s:
- Blink-182 “M&Ms” (pop-punk)
- Buck-O-Nine “My Town” (ska-punk)
It’s also where Camerica used to play at (Canes) and where we filmed a New Found Glory interview for In Your Face TV.
Pacific Beach
Pacific Beach is a coastal community in San Diego that had 90s and 2000s venues like:
- 710 Beach Club (where Camerica used to play)
- The sandwich shop where we filmed the Buck-O-Nine interview for Inside Out Television
- The PB Music Trader (where Gimp played an in-store show)
- Crossroads store (I forgot the name while filming this video)
- The bar where Camerica used to have In Your Face TV viewing parties (I forgot to film it in this video but picked it up in another one)
Sports Arena
Sports Arena is an area between the 5 freeway and the coast. Along its main drag, Sports Arena Boulevard, had:
- A Tower Records
- The Sports Arena (where Nirvana’s arena-rock concert, the 1996 Warped Tour, and Soma’s New Year’s festivals where all held)
And it has the current Soma today.
Ocean Beach & Showcase Theatre
Ocean Beach is another coastal community in San Diego (near Mission Bay, Mission Beach, and the Sports Arena area). I this video, I revisit:
- Dreamstreet (90s bar and music venue where Camerica played around the millennium)
- The Black (store)
- The Holding Company (music venue of today)
Then, after changing plans in the video, I go to where the Showcase Theatre used to be in the 90s and talk about my memories there like playing drums with Gimp there, filming bands there, and my Beck story.
