Unwritten Law is another super-successful punk band to come out of Poway, California (a small city here in San Diego County). They also went to Poway High School (with the likes of Blink-182 and others). I actually made a video on that on my Poway page.
The band actually started in the late 80s when their drummer and founder, Wade Youman, was only twelve years old. But, beginning in the 90s, the members of the band were:
- Scott Russo (vocals)
- Rob Brewer (guitar)
- Jeff Brehm (bassist until ‘92)
- John Bell (bassist post ‘92)
- Steve Morris (rhythm guitar)
- Wade Youman (drums and founder)
In 1997, they had yet another bass player change where Micah Alboa from Pivit played on some recordings but they picked up Pat “KM’ Kim from Sprung Monkey as their live bassist.
Unwritten Law’s 90s Albums
Unwritten Law self-released a six-song demo tape (unfortunately I couldn’t find it online) but they got signed pretty quickly thereafter as Red Eye Records’ flagship band (ran by “Mike from Red Eye” as I knew him). Mike released their famous “Blue Room” album in 1994 but then major label, Epic Records, released “Oz Factor” in 1996 and then another major, Interscope, put out their self-titled in 1998 (also known as their “black album”.
